The Bauhaus only existed in Germany for fourteen years, but its products have been reproduced and its ideas carriedon for a century. “original bauhaus” presents famous, well-known, and forgotten Bauhaus originals and relates the history behind the objects: how did the woman sitting in the tubular steel armchair become the Bauhaus’s most famous unknown person? Does the Haus am Horn in Weimar have a secret twin? And why did the tea infuser created as an industrial prototype remain one of a kind? On view are art and design from the holdings of the Bauhaus Archive and international collections as well as contemporary artistic positions.
