Let’s get ready for some window shopping of another kind altogether — along Kantstrasse to either side of Savignyplatz and on to Potsdamer Strasse! Here, where new design shops have taken their place alongside old established hardware stores, where urban life is lived in neighborhoods and pulses with all kinds of different rhythms, the bauhaus week presents the school’s history in showcase windows of retail stores and a window of the Staatsbibliothek—Preussischer Kulturbesitz, the state library. In spectacular handcrafted collages made by scenic painter Jacqueline Teschner, the exhibition tells us the story of livingand learning at the Bauhaus, of the various workshops and its protagonists, of the designs and the products that arose out of this progressive, workshop-based teaching.
