The Institute for Latin American Studies (LAI) at Freie Universität Berlin is an interdisciplinary center that brings together six disciplines in research and teaching on Latin America. It is located at Breitenbachplatz in a historically significant building in the Bauhaus style, designed by Max Taut and Franz Hoffmann in 1929/30 for the Reichsknappschaft insurance company.
